What to Look For in a Wedding Content Creator

Hiring a wedding content creator is the latest wedding trend! And we’re all about it here at Weddings with Verve. In addition to our planning, design, and wedding day management services, we’ve been offering social content creation for years. While this service was a hit when we debuted it in 2021, its popularity has skyrocketed since! It’s become a service couples ask for specifically rather than one we pitch to them.

So, we thought it was about time to share what couples should look for when hiring a wedding content creator. Of course, if you’re tying the knot in New Jersey, we hope you’ll choose Weddings with Verve! But if you’ll be married somewhere else, you’ll want this list of questions in your back pocket before hopping on a discovery call. Not sure yet if this service is for you? Questions to Ask a Wedding Content Creator

How long will they stay at your wedding?

Think carefully about which moments you most want to be captured for social media. Is it getting ready with your VIPs? The dance floor at the end of the night? The answer will influence your choice of content creator. If your answer is “all of the above,” it’s best to hire someone committed to being present on your wedding day for all 7-9 hours. However, if you only want curated social media posts from a specific portion of the day (e.g. the reception), you can hire someone offering partial packages of 2-4 hours.

Do they charge more for extra time?

You may feel content with a partial package until the big day arrives—then, you’ll want your content creator to stick around for the entire thing! If this happens, it’s crucial to know a) if you can ask them to stay longer and b) how much it will cost. It’s best to leave some wiggle room in your budget in case you decide to purchase extra coverage.

Will they travel to multiple locations? Does this cost extra?

Knowing the answers to these questions is crucial if your ceremony and reception will be in separate venues and you’re hiring your content creator for the entire day. The last thing you want is to end up with unexpected travel charges you didn’t work into your budget! Most vendors will be upfront about this, but covering every base during your discovery call is best to avoid surprises later.

Questions to ask your wedding content creator

How much content will they create? What’s the turnaround time?

Know what your investment will get you! Ask how much content you can expect, including the number of posts and/or Instagram stories. In addition, request the vendor’s average turnaround time. One of the perks of getting social content creation for your wedding day is instant gratification. However, if your vendor takes multiple weeks to deliver the content, you may not receive it much sooner than your professional photos.

How do they capture? Will they respect your professional photo and video teams?

Hiring a wedding content creator who will respect the work of your professional photo and video teams and create content without interfering with them is crucial. For this reason, it’s best to use a company already involved in the wedding industry (like Weddings with Verve!). This way, they’ll understand the flow of the day and how to work with different professionals.

What will they use to capture the footage?

Some couples want classic iPhone photography for their wedding content creation, while others prefer a more unique medium like Super8 or film photography. Be sure to ask your content creator what they’ll use to capture footage on your wedding day so you know what to expect.

What are their communication methods?

If you commit to hiring a wedding content creator, you need to know how you can reach them throughout the planning process (especially if you have a unique idea for content!). At Weddings with Verve, we have each of our couples fill out a detailed intake questionnaire so we can understand their vision. Then, we hop on a discovery call! After that, we’re available via email for the remainder of the planning process.

Are your personalities a good fit?

You’ll want to feel comfortable and relaxed around your wedding content creator. After all, you’re inviting them behind the scenes of one of the most important days of your life! So, make sure your personalities gel before hiring them.

Can you view content they’ve created on IG and/or TikTok?

You wouldn’t hire a wedding planner or photographer without seeing their past work first. The same goes for a content creator! If they won’t show you posts they’ve made for other couples, it’s a red flag. Ideally, you’ll want them to have a strong social media presence that speaks to their expertise in creating content.

And there you have it! Now, you’re prepared to find the perfect wedding content creator to capture and curate your memories BTS on your special day. If you’re in New Jersey and you’ve decided this service is for you, you’re in luck! Weddings with Verve would be thrilled to hop on the wedding day joyride with you and document allllll the unforgettable moments along the way. Just share the details of your celebration, and we’re there!
